The Steve Janicek Bursary
Fund
The Steve Janicek Bursary Fund was established upon the passing of
our father Steve on November 26, 2006. The Bursary has been funded by
the friends and family of our dad and has the initial capitalization
of $3200.
The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance for the
post secondary education of young people from our local community who
have played hockey in the local minor hockey system. These goals reflect
the interests of our father.
It is proposed that the Bursary provide an annual grant in the amount
of $750 to one individual. The selection of the recipient will be made
by the committee which is composed of Marianne Janicek and John Janicek
who are the Trustees of the Bursary Monies.
Each year in August the trustees will post a notice in the Alvinston
area bulletin board inviting applicants for the award. The trustees
will grant the Bursary before the end of the year.
The selection of the recipient will be in the absolute discretion of
the trustees and some of the requirements to be taken into account by
the trustees are the following:
- from the local community
- been in local minor hockey at least two years
- enrolled in community college/university/college/trade program,
not necessarily first year
- financial need
- demonstrated leadership potential
On behalf of our family, we wish to express our appreciation to those
who have funded this bursary in memory of our father, the late Steve
Janicek.
